What’s my favorite quote?
We’ve all got a few go-to quotes—those trusty, timeworn lines we pull out like Swiss Army knives when life starts to wobble. Some are wise, some are funny, and some just prove we’ve watched Nacho Libre one too many times. But the best quotes, the ones that really matter, are the ones that have walked through fire with us. They’re shortcuts to truths we’ve already tested—lived, questioned, maybe even screamed into a pillow at 2 a.m.
For me, the one that keeps coming back is a verse.
“All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Roman 10:13
I’ve called out plenty. Sometimes in desperation, sometimes in confusion, and sometimes with nothing but a deep sigh and a raised eyebrow toward heaven.
What hits me every time is that word “All.” It doesn’t say “those who have it together” or “those with a clean record.” It says all. No fine print. No qualifiers. Just anyone who picks up the line and dials in.
Then there’s “call out.” That’s all it takes. No rehearsed speech, no religious jargon—just a raw, honest reach from wherever you are. And “in the name of the Lord”—well, if I’m going to call for help, I figure it might as well be the one who made the stars.
And finally, “will be saved.” Not maybe, not on hold, not check back later. Just will. The hard part is, sometimes that saving doesn’t come in the way or timeline I expect. There’s often a gap between the asking and the answer. But I’ve learned not to confuse silence with absence. He moves. Sometimes slow, but always sure.
And if you’re not sure what you believe—if you’ve never called out before—maybe even the act of trying is enough. Maybe that’s faith in its simplest form: calling out into the unknown, hoping someone’s listening.
So that’s my quote. Not just because it’s beautiful. But because it reminds me, especially on the hard days, that I’ve got Someone in my corner.
