Faith, Hope, and… My Truck?

What are three objects you couldn’t live without?

Three Objects I Couldn’t Live Without

At first, my mind jumped to the obvious: faith, love, hope—the big three. And of course, loved ones. But since those aren’t exactly “objects” (and I don’t want to get lost in philosophical rabbit holes), I’ll stick to material things—stuff you can touch, hold, maybe even drop on your foot.

First up: my laptop. As long as it’s got the internet, it’s practically a lifeline. Every photo, every book (including the Bible), and every way to communicate with the people I care about—it’s all in there. Without the internet? Still useful, but mostly just an overpriced paperweight.

Second: my coffee maker. Whether it’s my trusty Moka pot or an espresso machine, I need that liquid motivation. Some might call it an addiction—I call it a daily essential. Morning coffee? Non-negotiable. Midday coffee? A little treat. Coffee with dessert? Now we’re talking. Okay, fine, I might have a problem.

Third: my truck. A diesel 4×4 crew cab with all the bells and whistles—because nothing says “I could pack up and disappear at a moment’s notice” like a truck that can go anywhere. Cross-country, backwoods, through the snow, to where my kids are, or to where there’s not a soul except me, nature, and my thoughts. It’s freedom on four wheels.

So there you have it: laptop, coffee, truck. Not the most profound list, but an honest one.

I don’t have heirlooms or keepsakes passed down through generations. Life has taught me that you can have things and lose them just as fast. So I hold onto what I have loosely, knowing that everything—whether kept, shared, or given back—is just on loan from God.

“To him that has much, much will be given, and to him that has little, even that will be taken away.” Harsh? Yeah. But true.
